Local Missions
Local missions are a very integral part of our Christian joy. Join us in giving back to our community. We have helped feed and clothe those less fortunate, and partnered with local schools by donating backpacks, coats, Christmas for needy families, and snack bags for spring break. IUMC Educational Scholoarship
In 2007, IUMC received a generous monetary gift from an anonymous donor to establish scholarships to persons attending a Christian Seminary. This fund welcomes donations and is anxious to provide assistance to individuals who desire a future performing God’s work.
The American Sewing Guild
The American Sewing Guild (ASG) is a non-profit organization of home sewers who are advancing sewing as an art and a life skill. The guild’s purpose is to provide information, education, and programs for its members and the community. This cutting-edge group meets at the church on the first Wednesday of each month 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. For more information, please contact the This email address is being protected from spambots. International Missions
Interested in foreign missions? Currently, IUMC provides opportunities for someone who feels led to share the good news beyond our borders. Stay tuned, there’s more to come as others (like yourself) are led to places that God has placed on your heart. One opportunity for short- term service is in Eastern Europe. This 12-day mission trip is usually taken in March or April each year. Most of the mission team’s time will be spent at a coed orphanage for children and youth (ages 5-18). Ministry teams at the orphanage will oversee various activities: Bible lessons, games, crafts, and music. Our team leader (an optometrist) provides eye exams for the orphans, the translators and teachers. Each year, the team visits two Baptist Churches and one United Methodist Church to lead in worship and encourage the body of Christ. If you are interested and for more information about the Eastern Europe Mission Team, please contact Gary Yarbrough (205) 956-8867 or Eric Hicks (205)-405-6996.
